Juliet's Dream: A Young Girl's Fight to Stay in School
In the quiet corners of a rural village in Uganda, lives a determined young girl named Juliet. She’s the sixth child in a family of nine — five girls, three boys, and a mother and father who try their best to provide with what little they have.
But life has not been kind.
Juliet has watched her older sisters leave school and be pushed into early marriages. Her brothers, barely grown, have taken up hard, unstable jobs to help keep the family afloat. School has become a distant memory for many of her siblings — but Juliet refuses to give up.
“I want to become a teacher so I can change the bad things around me,” she says, eyes full of conviction.
Juliet knows that education is her only path out of poverty. Her dream is not just to lift herself, but to lift others — to be the kind of teacher who inspires girls like her to hold on, to push through, and to believe that they matter.
But poverty, relentless and unforgiving, threatens to steal that dream.
Juliet is often sent home from school because her parents cannot afford the fees. She misses lessons, loses valuable study time, and her confidence begins to waver. Yet every time she can, she returns. She listens. She learns. She hopes.
