At just nine years old, Nakanyike Desire Evelyn already carries a dream that could one day change countless lives. Born on 13th October 2015, Desire lives in Masaka District, Uganda, with her loving mother, who works tirelessly to provide for her despite overwhelming challenges.
Desire is currently in Primary Four. She is a bright, determined, and hardworking pupil who loves learning and dreams of becoming a doctor. Yet every school term brings uncertainty, as her education is constantly threatened by a lack of school fees, stationery, and other essential learning materials.
Life has not been easy for Desire or her mother. When Desire's mother was just five months pregnant, Desire's father abandoned the family. Since then, she has faced the enormous responsibility of raising her daughter alone, without financial support.
Unable to find stable employment, she survives by taking on casual work whenever it is available. Some days there is enough to buy food; other days there is not. They live in a small rented room, never knowing how they will pay the next month's rent or where their next meal will come from.
Despite these hardships, Desire's mother has never stopped encouraging her daughter to dream big. She believes that education is the key to a better future and reminds Desire that one day she could become a doctor and use her skills to help those in need.
Desire has the determination, compassion, and potential to achieve that dream. What she lacks is the opportunity. Without support, her education—and the future she longs for—remains at risk.
Through Youth With A Vision's sponsorship programme, Desire Evelyn can receive the support she needs to continue learning and developing her talents.

Supporting a child doesn't have to be a solo commitment. Why not invite friends, family members, colleagues, your church group, or community group to sponsor a child together?
Our sponsorship programme starts at £24 per month. If three people sponsor together, each person contributes just £8 per month. If six people join, the cost is only £4 per person per month.
We can create a separate payment link for each participant, making group sponsorship simple and convenient to manage.
Together, your group can provide a child with access to education, hope, and the opportunity to become a productive and self-reliant adult.
