Kigoye Junior Has Not Given Up on His Education — He Just Needs Someone to Believe in Him
He left school because his family could no longer afford it. But time has not taken away his dream of returning.
Sometimes, giving up on education is not a choice.
Sometimes, a young person wants to continue studying, wants to build a different future and has the determination to keep going — but circumstances beyond their control force them to leave the classroom.
This is the story of Kigoye Junior

Junior's education was interrupted by circumstances beyond his control.
Junior previously attended St John’s Kabuwoko Senior Secondary School, where he reached Senior Two. He had every intention of continuing his education.
But life at home became increasingly difficult.
His father became seriously ill and could no longer provide for the family. As the eldest son, Junior found himself carrying responsibilities at home and helping to support his younger siblings.
With little choice, he left school and began doing casual work to help support himself and his family.
Leaving school was not because Junior had lost interest in education.
He simply could not afford to continue.
But Junior has not given up
On 11 August 2026, Junior came to the Youth With A Vision office in Kayirikiti.
He was distressed and emotional as he spoke about watching his friends continue with their education while he remained out of school.
He spoke about the future he wants.
And, most importantly, he spoke about his desire to return to the classroom.
“My life is not progressing.”
Those words stayed with us.
Junior knows that casual work may help him get through today, but he believes education could give him an opportunity to build a more sustainable future.
His dream is to become a doctor.
And despite the time he has already spent away from school, Junior still believes he can go back.
Dropping out has not stopped him.
Time has not stopped him.
His responsibilities at home have not stopped him.
His dream has not stopped him.
The biggest barrier standing between Junior and the classroom is the cost of education.
He wants to go back to Senior Two
Junior wants another opportunity to continue his education.
He wants to return to Senior Two, catch up with his studies and work towards the future he has imagined for himself.
He believes that education could help him access more meaningful employment, support his younger siblings and build a more secure future for his family.
And one day, he hopes to become a doctor and use his knowledge and skills to serve others.
His dream is still alive.
What he needs now is someone willing to walk alongside him.
Could you help Junior find his way back to school?
Through sponsorship, you can help provide the educational support Junior needs to return to the classroom, including school fees and essential scholastic materials.
For Junior, sponsorship would mean more than financial assistance.
It would mean an opportunity to return to learning.
It would mean being given another chance.
And it would mean knowing that someone believes his future is worth investing in.
Junior's secondary-school sponsorship is £35 per month.
That is £35 a month towards helping Junior return to school and continue working towards his dream.
If you are able to sponsor Junior yourself, we would be very grateful.
❤️ SPONSOR JUNIOR — £35 A MONTH
You don't have to sponsor alone
Supporting a child doesn't have to be a solo commitment.
Perhaps you have friends, family members, colleagues, a church group, community group or workplace who would be willing to come together to support Junior.
Group sponsorship could make this possible.
For example, if Junior's £35 monthly sponsorship is shared:
2 people = £17.50 each per month
3 people = £11.67 each per month
5 people = £7 each per month
7 people= £5 each per month
Small contributions from several people can come together to create one life-changing opportunity for a young person.
If your group would like to support Junior together, you don't need to work out all the arrangements yourselves.
YWAV can help you get started and discuss a simple way for your group to contribute.

Junior's dream is still alive
Junior has already lost valuable time.
We cannot change what has happened.
But we can help change what happens next.
He is still asking for an opportunity.
He is still willing to work for his education.
He is still dreaming of becoming a doctor.
And he has not allowed dropping out, getting older or the difficulties he has faced to convince him that his education is no longer possible.
Junior has not given up on himself.
Perhaps we should not give up on him either.
Could you be the person who helps him return to school?
