JOURNEY INTO IMPACT 2027

23–29 MAY 2027 | MASAKA, UGANDA
Come and see the impact you have helped create.

Journey Into Impact 2027 marks the beginning of what we hope will become an annual one-week gathering, bringing together Youth With A Vision's child sponsors, supporters and friends from around the world to Uganda to experience first-hand the impact they have helped create.
From 23–29 May 2027, participants will spend seven nights in Masaka, Uganda, meeting the children, young people and families connected to YWAV's work and visiting the communities and projects that their support helps make possible. It is an opportunity to move beyond updates, photographs and stories, and experience the work and its impact for themselves.

During the week, participants will have opportunities to build meaningful relationships with children, families, local communities and the wider YWAV team; explore YWAV projects and community initiatives; take part in the Community Impact Challenge; share skills and experiences; enjoy Ugandan cultural activities; and connect with fellow supporters and friends from around the world.

Friends and guests who are new to YWAV are also warmly welcome. They can come alongside an existing supporter, discover the work for themselves and become part of the wider YWAV community.

Journey Into Impact is about more than seeing the impact. It is about connecting with the people behind it, celebrating what has been achieved together, contributing to the work and helping to shape the journey ahead.

Optional Lake Mburo Wildlife Adventure

Extend your Journey. Experience Uganda. Create a little more impact.

If you would like to extend your Journey Into Impact experience with a taste of Uganda's wildlife, you can join an optional Lake Mburo National Park Adventure.

Located within easy reach of Masaka, Lake Mburo offers a wonderful opportunity to experience Uganda's wildlife and landscapes in a single-day adventure. The park is particularly known for its zebras, impalas, giraffes, hippos and beautiful lakeside scenery.

Whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or with a small group, this is an opportunity to relax, explore and enjoy another side of Uganda before continuing your journey home.

What you may see

Lake Mburo is home to a variety of wildlife, including:

  • Zebras — one of the park's signature animals, often seen in herds.

  • Impala and Uganda kob — commonly encountered antelope.

  • Giraffes — often seen browsing among the acacia trees.

  • Buffaloes and warthogs — widespread throughout the park.

  • Hippos and crocodiles — particularly around the lake and waterways.

  • Eland — one of Uganda's largest antelope species.

  • Leopards and hyenas — present in the park, although sightings are less predictable.

  • Birdlife — with a variety of species associated with the park's woodland, wetlands and lakeshore.

Wildlife sightings are naturally dependent on the day and conditions, so individual sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Ways to experience Lake Mburo

The adventure can include:

Game Drive
Explore the park by vehicle and experience its wildlife, grasslands and acacia landscapes.

Boat Cruise
Enjoy Lake Mburo from the water, with opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds and wildlife coming to drink.

Walking Safari
For those who would like a closer connection with nature, guided walking experiences are available at an additional cost.

A unique way to experience the park and its wildlife from horseback. This is also available at an additional cost.

Adventure cost

£232 — one person
£158 per person — 2–3 people
