FOSTER FAMILIES AND CENTER

Every Child Deserves a Family

Providing Love, Belonging, and Hope Through Family-Based Care

Every child deserves to grow up knowing they are loved, valued, and part of a family.

Sadly, many children in Uganda lose parental care through death, abandonment, neglect, family breakdown, illness, or extreme poverty. Without support, these children risk missing out on the care, guidance, and sense of belonging that every child needs to thrive.

At Youth With A Vision, we believe that children flourish best in families, not institutions.

That is why our Foster Care Programme seeks to provide vulnerable children with safe, loving, and stable family environments where they can grow, learn, and reach their full potential.

Our Approach

Rather than placing children in residential institutions, we identify compassionate families within the community who are willing to open their homes and hearts to vulnerable children.

These families welcome children as members of their own family, providing love, care, guidance, protection, and a sense of belonging.

Children grow up alongside parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family members, experiencing the stability and relationships that help shape healthy development.

Our goal is not simply to provide shelter, but to help children grow up in environments where they feel valued, supported, and connected.

Families Foster Out of Love

One of the unique aspects of our programme is that foster families do not receive financial payments for fostering children.

Instead, families choose to foster because they care about vulnerable children and want to make a difference in their lives.

Their motivation is compassion, generosity, and a commitment to helping children who need support.

Youth With A Vision then walks alongside these families, helping them meet the practical challenges that come with caring for additional children.

How We Support Foster Families

While foster families generously provide homes and care, many face financial challenges of their own.

To help ensure children can thrive, Youth With A Vision provides support such as:

• Food assistance

• Educational support and school fees

• Scholastic materials

• Medical care and healthcare support

• Clothing and necessities

• Counselling and social support where needed.

This practical assistance helps strengthen foster families and creates a stable environment for vulnerable children.

Why Family Matters

A family provides much more than food and shelter.

A family gives a child:

✓ Love and emotional support

✓ Positive role models

✓ Guidance and protection

✓ A sense of identity and belonging

✓ Values and life skills

✓ Hope for the future

The Children We Support

The children in our Foster Care Programme come from different backgrounds and circumstances.

Some have lost one or both parents.

Some have been abandoned.

Others come from families facing severe poverty or situations where parents are unable to provide adequate care.

Whatever their story, every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.

A Community Working Together

The Foster Care Programme is built on the belief that communities can play a powerful role in caring for vulnerable children.

By working together with foster families, local leaders, schools, supporters, and volunteers, we help create protective environments where children can thrive.

Every child placed in a loving family is given more than a home. They are given the opportunity to belong.

The Impact of Your Support

Your support helps us identify and assess foster families, monitor child welfare, provide educational support, strengthen family stability, respond to healthcare needs, and ensure children have access to the resources they need to flourish.

Together, we are helping vulnerable children experience the love, security, and opportunities that every child deserves.

How You Can Help

There are many ways to support vulnerable children through our Foster Care Programme:

• Sponsor a child's education

• Support food and basic needs

• Contribute towards healthcare costs

• Support family strengthening initiatives

Every contribution helps a child grow up in a loving family environment and look forward to a brighter future.
